Why the title, “Reverence For Life?” I believe in Life. Anywhere and everywhere in the universe. Microscopic or Telescopic. I became enthralled with the little book of essays and sermon material with the same title as I have chosen to guide my own life. It was written be the man I discovered in 1982 and admire and have several books by:
Albert Schweitzer, M.D., OM, (January 14, 1875 – September 4, 1965) was a Alsacian theologian, musician, philosopher, and physician. He was born in Kaysersberg, Alsace-Lorraine, German Empire (now in Haut-Rhin, Alsace, France). He received the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize in 1953 for his philosophy of “reverence for life”[1] expressed in many ways but most famously in founding and sustaining the Lambaréné Hospital.
I want to emulate the spirit of Albert Schweitzer, but fail to measure up to his example, a life to be lived with love. That is supremely manifested in the Person of God, who is Love. As a Christian I believe that is exemplified to me in the life and self giving love of Jesus, the Christ.
Others may not experience that love-life in Jesus and I have no argument with them. But none can take the love-live I experience personally in the Nazarene.
Peace be to you, the reader.
